Objective To understand the epidemiological characteristics of HFMD in Longgang District of Shenzhen City and provide a scientific basis for effective intervention. Methods Collecting the national disease reporting information management system and Shenzhen disease control information management system related to hand, foot and mouth disease surveillance data for a comprehensive analysis. Results From January 2005 to June 2009, 22 outbreaks of hand-foot-mouth disease (180 reported cases) occurred in Longgang District of Shenzhen City, accounting for 12.29% of the total number of outbreaks in the district; mainly outbreaks of child-care institutions (81.82 %). The outbreak peak ranged from March to June (81.82%). Cox-A16 positive cases (10/10, 100.00%) were found in HFMD cases in 2005-2006, while in EV71 cases in 2008-2009 (32/50, 64.00%). The duration of the outbreak was significantly and positively correlated with the outbreak time (r = 0.482, P = 0.023) and the number of outbreaks (r = 0.640, After controlling the number of affected persons, the correlation between the duration of the outbreak and the non-timely treatment of the outbreak was significantly enhanced (r = 0.765, P <0.001). The duration of the outbreak was 1.14 days Will extend 1 d: y = -7.16 + 1.14 x1 + 1.31 x2. Conclusion In recent years, the outbreak of HFMD in Longgang District of Shenzhen City increased significantly. The nursery-child care organization was the main site of the outbreak of epidemic situation, and the timely disposal was the key to outbreak control.
