In recent years, the use of aeronautic and terrestrial reflectance measurements to qualitatively delineate hydrothermal alteration rocks around precious metal deposits has attracted much attention, but the quantitative delineation of altered minerals using this technique has not been studied in detail. This article discusses the possibility of using clay mineral identification and quantitative analysis with reflectivity radiometry, and investigates a computerized method of anti-coping with a comprehensive spectrum. Clay minerals in 53 rock and soil samples from Alberta, Saskatchewan, Ontario and Nevada were analyzed by X-ray diffraction (XRD), and the results of the analyzes were in good contrast with radiometric methods.
