Objective To investigate the relationship between plasma CRP, LDL-C and vascular diseases in type 2 diabetic patients. Methods 182 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus and 50 normal controls were tested for serum C - reactive protein and serum lipoproteins by automatic biochemical analyzer. Results The serum levels of CRP and LDL-C in type 2 diabetic patients were significantly higher than those in healthy controls (P <0.05). Patients with type 2 diabetes showed significant increases in CRP and LDL-C And the complication rate of microvascular lesions was significantly higher than that of patients with normal CRP and LDL-C, the difference was statistically significant. Conclusions CRP and LDL-C have important clinical value in predicting the complication of type 2 diabetes mellitus. Multiple combined type 2 diabetes patients with elevated LDL-C suggest a high risk of atherosclerosis.
