高炉炉前的渣、铁沟,每使用一周左右的时间就需要铺撒一层“沟泥”(混有一定比例沥青和粘土的焦粉)进行夯实。几十年来,这一直是高炉工人的一件繁重的体力劳动。这项工作中最累的要算夯实这道工序。材料铺撒在渣、铁沟内以后,由四个人抬着近百斤的重砣进行夯砸。用砣夯完,沟的两侧还要用铁锹拍打修整。这样,不但工人的体力消耗很大,且夯沟的时间很长。对出铁次数多的高炉来讲,由于相邻两次出铁时间间隔很短,这项工作的进行越发感到紧张。在轰轰烈烈的技术革新与技术革命运动中,鞍山钢铁学院师生与我厂生产工人一道,密切协作,怀着对减轻工人繁重体力劳动的阶级感情,针对这个难题进行了创造性的劳动,终于试制成功了电动船式炉前打夯机,实现了高炉炉前铺沟打夯的机械化。
