甘蔗是农业内部结构中一个组成部分。甘蔗的农业现代化是整个农业现代化中不可缺少的一环.尤其是地处亚热带的广西,夏季高温多湿,霜期极短,桂南地区基本无霜,或少数年份出现1～2天轻霜,极适宜发展甘蔗。甘蔗蔗糖份和产糖率居全国第一位.因此,广西发展甘蔗糖业具有较大的优势。1978年全区产糖38.5万吨,1979年达40.6万吨。今后只要妥善解决粮食等有关问题,产糖量迅速提高是完全可能的.实现甘蔗的农业现代化对加速广西农业现代化进程具有突出的意义.
