英国铁路总共计划生产48000个用Modar(丙烯强化树脂)制成的座椅,装用在两种新车上。约有16000个座椅将在英国铁路165型Network涡轮内燃动车组上装用。这些座椅的靠背由合成材料制成,具有极佳的强度与刚度特性,能够同座椅框架有机地结合成一体。其余32000个座椅将装在465型动车组上,除座椅框架外,拟完全用聚合材料制做。座椅框架将采用一种玻璃钢含量60%~65%的Modar丙烯树脂合成材料制造。英国铁路要求,成品座椅既要做到重量不超出11.5kg,又要具有不寻常的强度与刚性,符合BS476号英国标准所规定的防火
British Rail plans to produce a total of 48,000 seats made of Modar (Acryl Reinforced Plastics) for use in two new cars. Approximately 16,000 seats will be used on the British Rail 165-type Network Turbo EMUs. The backrest of these seats, made of synthetic material, has excellent strength and stiffness characteristics and can be organically integrated with the seat frame. The remaining 32,000 seats will be installed on the 465 EMU, with the exception of the seat frame, to be made entirely of polymeric material. The seat frame will be made of a Modar Acryl synthetic resin with 60% to 65% FRP content.
