The once-fated generation of sea fighter-battleships, which once dominated the world with their huge caliber artillery and extra-heavy armor, has now formally bid farewell to the Navy, but the final destination has not yet been finalized. After World War II, only the U.S. Navy still owns four such giant warships that carry 58,000 tons of displacement, the Missouri, the New Jersey, the Iowa and the Wisconsin. In terms of tonnage, the four warships are second only to Japan’s battleship Daiwa and Musashi, which have a displacement of 64,000 tons and were equipped with 18-inch (457mm) artillery during World War II. All four ships have had a distinguished record: all participated in the Second World War, the Allied forces accepted the Japanese surrender ceremony was held on the “Missouri” battleship, and some participated in the Korean war, providing ammunition support for the U.S. military landing in Incheon . Since then, the four warships were discharged from active service and sealed. After the Vietnam War, the “New Jersey” was unsealed and marched to Vietnam’s battlefield. After hitting the Vietnam coast with its nine 16-inch (460 mm) artillery shells, it reemerged in service one and a half years later. The end of 1982, “New Jersey” is passing
