现已知道,醛复红(Aldehyde Fuchsin)是一种良好的生物学染料和组织化学试剂,在一定条件下,它能相对特异地显示弹性纤维、胰岛B细胞、肠道亲银细胞、垂体嗜碱性细胞、垂体后叶神经分泌物质、某些粘液细胞、肥大细胞,直至B型肝炎病毒表面抗原等。关于醛复红的发展史,Puchtler等人已作了简要的回顾。以往配制醛复红试剂时,不论是国内的还是国外的经验,都曾碰到有时着色不满意或者失败的情况。直到最近,Mowry才明确指出:配制醛复红应当用对品红(Pararosaniline),而不应当用碱性品红,因为后者是品红(Rosaniline)及对品红的混合物。对品红的结构式为
