At the recent China-EU Information Cooperation Forum 2002, Jan Uddenfeldt, Chief Technology Officer of Ericsson, introduced the status quo and future development of WCDMA. According to Mr. Yang Dengfei, in Europe, the journey to WCDMA has begun. Not only in Europe, but in other parts of the world, 71% of global mobile subscribers are currently GSM subscribers, and 71% of GSM subscribers are moving toward WCDMA
