Since 1990, Switzerland has retained a number of non-controlled potato fields throughout the country and has established a network for late blight surveillance. The first infestation of potato late blight on the commodity production site was used to guide the control of regional diseases. During the recent 12 years, 10 outbreaks of late blight started in May, of which 9 years were spread from protected areas to the field. Since 2001, farmers have been able to access PhytoPRE +2 0 0 decision support systems online. The core of the system is the actual status of late blight in the country and the past and future weather forecast data. Critical meteorological conditions (MISP) required for Phytophthora infestans infestation and sporulation are used to measure the satisfaction of future weather conditions. From 1996 to 2000, the MISP model was used to guide the control of late blight in the field. Compared with PhytoPRE +95, the number of control in rainy years failed to reduce, but in the dry year can save more than 40% of the use of pharmaceuticals. In the field trial, the MISP model was comparable to PhytoPRE +95 in terms of first-time use and was superior to other DSSs in continuous use. In 1999 and 2000, the MISP model was integrated into the PhytoPRE + 200 decision support system. In order to quickly transfer information, using network technology. PhytoPRE + 2 0 0 0 is a decision support system that integrates recommendations, information and early warnings for specific areas and parcels. Daily maps of actual occurrences and early warning blight of late blight predicted by MISP can be displayed online to all Swiss potato growers.
