英语词汇的一词多义是很普遍的现象,一些常用词语用在不同的句子里可能失去基本含义,而表示另外一些意思。我们平时要在大量的阅读中根据不同的上下文去揣摸,才能准确地理解,避免闹出笑话。下面举一些示例供参考。
一、dead,death,die不是“死”
1.He is a dead shot.他是个神枪手。
2.He cut me dead at the meeting.他假装不认识我。
3.His feet feel dead.他的脚冻僵了。
4.He is having a dead sleep.他正在熟睡。
5.He is at a dead lift.他在急难之中。
6.He is dead sure of it.他对此完全肯定。
7.Let the dead bury the dead.既往不究。
