宝严寺塔位于河南省驻马店市西平县东关原宝严寺外,现柏城镇东大街西平县博物馆院内(图1)。据资料记载,宝严寺建于唐代,为佛教寺院,民国年间废弃。宝严寺居南向北,宝严寺塔居北依南,遥相呼应;清代有诗所赞:“宝塔镇东基,洪河绕城西,金汁灌葡萄,天下数第一”。古人引洪河水从西关入金梁桥向北转东,移南绕塔半环东流,分割了宝严寺。据传原宝严寺宏丽威严,奇巧自然,雕梁画栋。有三大宝殿,
Bao Yan Temple Tower is located in Ximai County, Zhumadian City, Henan Province, the original Bao Yan Temple, is now East Park Avenue, Xiping County Museum (Figure 1).
