日本话剧团四月十八日到达北京,先后在北京、南京、上海、广州等地访问演出,历时两个多月,已于六月二十五日胜利结束,离广州回国。日本话剧团演出的《郡上农民起义》《日本的幽灵》《大年夜》和《竹子姑娘》,受到我国文艺界和广大观众的热烈欢迎和赞赏。五月五日,日本话剧团在北京首都剧场举行访华首次演出。人大常委会副委员长、中日友好协会名誉会长郭沫若和有关方面负责人以及首都文艺界人士观看了当晚演出的《郡上农民起义》。休息时,郭沫若副委员长接见了日本话剧团的主要成员。五月六日和九日晚,周恩来总理先后观看了 The Japanese Repertory Theater arrived in Beijing on April 18 and successively performed performances in Beijing, Nanjing, Shanghai and Guangzhou.
