Interpreting is a multi-tasking process of processing and processing complex information and requires the translator to coordinate various cognitive functions. This article borrows Jill ’s cognitive load model and conducts an empirical research on the undergraduates majoring in foreign languages and applied linguistics at a university in Tianjin, and discusses the factors that influence the attention by default when Chinese and English alternately interpret the information. The experimental results show that the default interpretation information is related to the translator’s professional skills in interpreting, which is related to the translator’s attentional energy consumption during the process of taking notes, taking notes, and switching between languages.
