鉴于沉积岩和火成岩记录变化磁场的机制不同,对两类不同岩石的磁化应分别给出相应的解释。苏格兰 Clyde 高原 Boquhan 溪火山熔岩及英格兰 Craven 盆地的沉积岩分别显示变化特征相似(顺时针回路轨迹)的磁场行为的记录。两者的年龄有可能均为早石炭世。故两者有可能记录了同时代地磁场的这一特点,进而两者的记录均是可靠的。
In view of the different mechanism of the change of the magnetic field recorded by sedimentary rocks and igneous rocks, corresponding explanations should be given respectively for the magnetization of two types of rocks. Sedimentary rocks in the Boquhan Creek volcanic lava in the Clyde Plateau, Scotland and in the Craven Basin in England show records of magnetic field behavior with similar variation (clockwise loop path), respectively. Both ages are likely to be Early Carboniferous. Therefore, it is possible for both of them to record this feature of the geomagnetic field of the same generation, and the records of both are reliable.
