Folk music has always been one of the representatives of oral culture. In the first half of the 20th century, the media of record had intervened in the spread of Chinese folk music, but its scope of communication mainly concentrated in the cities and did not enter into the grass-roots space for the survival of folk music. However, at the end of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st century, emerging albums of Chinese folk music began to appear in some places in China. It took the peasants and non-mainstream people in small cities as the audiences, and formed the characteristics of communication within the class, generally within the nation and across regions . These characteristics of communication are mainly manifested in media, audience and effect in the process of the transmission of recordings, that is, there is more contact with the audiences for the decoding of symbols and less contact with the symbols. Therefore, this dissertation focuses on how the symbolic elements such as form, semantics and context affect the realization and communication of symbolic meanings in the process of the transmission of record symbols, so as to explain the characteristics of the new record of folk music.
