Beta-239 is an alpha particle emitter with a physical half-life of 24,000 years. If it enters the body through inhalation or stab wounds, it will remain firmly in place unless treatment is used to promote its excretion. Bukhtoyarova et al. had once injected adult sexual Wistar rats with 2 μCi of bismuth nitrate-239 per kilogram body weight, and the daily dose of DTPA was about 500 μmol/kg. The results showed that in the group injected with ~(239)Pu, 12/62=19±5% of osteosarcoma was found, and 3/58=5±3% of the group treated with DTPA on the first day. The group that started treatment in January was 5/61 = 8 ± 4%, starting at 1 year
