Thorites in the entire Eye-Dashwa fault zone have been studied. The reaction edge structure around the thorium is not deformed, indicating that it grows after the dynamic effect. ThO 2 and SiO 2 are the main oxide components of the thorium in the rock mass. Thermodynamic analysis shows that the thorium in the granite is the stable phase in contact with the surrounding groundwater. This stability of thorium (ca. 2.3 Ga) and chemical inertness can be used as examples of natural analogues in certain fields of disposal of nuclear waste.
