水飞蓟为一年或两年生菊科草本植物,别名奶蓟、老鼠筋、乳蓟等,原产于西欧和北非,20世纪70年代引入我国。以瘦果(种子)入药,具有保肝利胆、醒脑健脑、解毒抗癌之功效。其种子还可作油料,含油率高达18.36%,有预防动脉硬化的作用。
