The preparation of dichloro-tetrapyridyl cobalt (Ⅱ) complex crystal, and the crystal structure determination by X-ray crystallography and infrared spectroscopy were reported. The thermogravimetric analysis was used to characterize the thermal decomposition behavior and the thermal decomposition kinetics Research Process: The kinetics of the thermal decomposition of the complex was investigated by Ozawa-Flynn-Wall (OFW) kinetic analysis and the activation energy was calculated.
