This article is a brief overview of a large-scale pilot program designed to understand the effects of impurities in hydrogen on metal hydride surface poisoning. The alloys studied are: (1) LaNi_5 (typical AB_5 type compound); (2) FeTi (typical AB Type compound); (3) Fe_ (0.85) Mn_ (0.15) Ti (improved FeTi-type alloy for studying the displacement effect of the third component).
