PURPOSE People may develop various diseases and have different health conditions, but in order to fully understand the health status of human life, there is a need for comprehensive information about the impact of diseases or health conditions on human life. This article examines the impact of health conditions that can be categorized using the International Classification of Diseases (ICD) terms and functional concepts as described by ICF terminology. This study identified a set of ICF taxonomic categories as functional attributes that were used in conjunction with the ICD to describe the effects of general health status. Methods The ICF categories used to characterize functional attributes under any health condition were selected from three major general health assessment tools: the WHO Disability Rating Scale 2.0 (WHODAS 2.0), the World Health Survey (WHS) questionnaire and ICF coresets generic version of a list of categories. The results establish a set of ICF categories that describe the health effects according to specific functional areas. Conclusions Under the ICD-11 revision, the combined use of ICDs and ICFs through a series of ICF category lists of functional attributes can lead to valuable integration of the two categories, which is conducive to strengthening patient management, design of intervention programs and health The results report allows us to distinguish the severity of the disease from the effects of the disease. In health information system applications, the ICD-ICF joint application establishes a shared formal informational representation of persistent health care.
