The US fiber optic component market will grow by 17% annually from 1994 to the present. At present, the total sales of optical fiber components in the United States is about 808 million U.S. dollars and will reach 1,762 million U.S. dollars in 1994. Most of the growth is due to fiber applications as a result of data communications, subscriber loops and military aspects. The basic trend of such growth (new technology, low cost and pressure on regional telephone companies to provide new services) has taken shape. By 1991 the entire market will increase by about 13%. From 1992 to 1994, subscriber loops, data communications and military markets will grow at a rate of 23% per year.
