I. Basic Conditions of Ganzi Prefecture Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture is located in the western part of Sichuan Province and the southeastern margin of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. It is the main gateway to Tibet from the Mainland. The state covers an area of 153,000 square kilometers, accounting for 28% of the total area of Sichuan Province.
