由于长期受应试教育的影响,我国的英语教学侧重词汇、语法、句法等基础知识的讲解。学生在学习过程中将重点也放在了单词记忆和语法的掌握上,以通过大学英语四、六级为最终的学习目标。教师在讲课时遇到“backgroundin-formation”一项时,常常是照本宣科,甚至忽略不讲。但笔者认为随着中国经济的飞速发展,经济全球化的进一步深化,英语在工作和生活中的交流功能将愈加突出,而在教学中加大“背景知识”的分量,将会是转变英语教学侧重点,培养学生实际交流能力的一个很好的突破口。
Due to the long-term influence of exam-oriented education, English teaching in our country focuses on the basic knowledge of vocabulary, grammar, and syntax. In the process of learning, students will also focus on the memory of words and grammar in order to pass the 4th and 6th level of College English as the final learning goal. When a teacher encounters a “backgroundinformation” during his lecture, he or she usually follows the script and even ignores it. However, the author believes that with the rapid development of China’s economy and the deepening of economic globalization, English’s ability to communicate in work and life will become more prominent, and increasing the “background knowledge” in teaching will transform English teaching. Emphasis is placed on cultivating a good breakthrough for students’ practical communication skills.
