Mixed metal was prepared from a treated bastnaesite concentrate at 950 ° C in a REF_3-LiF-BaF_2 electrolyte. Metals are produced and released from a 1000 amps cell and the utilization of rare earth oxides reaches almost 100%. The extended operation of a smaller cell (40 amps) showed that the composition of the electrolyzed mixed metal was fairly constant and found no significant increase in impurities other than charcoal.
