I. INTRODUCTION Joseph Conrad (1857-1924) is a peculiar writer in British history. Born in Poland, he has produced a large number of classic novels in non-native English, and his works are well received by scholars Praised by famous literary critic Leavis, his work praises the works of Jane Austen, George Eliot, DH Lawrence, Henry James and others together to form the great tradition of English novels.
