化学信息给予题又称材料阅读题、化学情景题。这类题由于情景新、知识活、能力要求高,能较好地考查同学们对信息的理解、提取、加工、处理、应用能力以及从化学的视角去解决实际问题的能力,在近几年的中考试题中频频出现,已成为中考试卷中的一道亮丽的风景线。信息给予题一般具有如下框架:题干(信息部分)+若干简短问题(问题部分)。题干是向学生提供解题信息,大多取材于现代科技、生活实际、社会热点、科学史等。问题部分是围绕题干给出的信息展开的,能否解答问题,取决于同学们能够从题干中获取多少信息以及获得的信息能否快速地迁移到解答的问题中来。
