日本技术学院的洋一弘漱教授首次成功地在大气条件下进行了金钢石人工合成。这一化时代的新技术称为“不闭合大气燃烧法” (Open atmosphere combustiOn flame method)。传统的金刚石合成技术需要一个抽掉空气的反应室,使室内维持真空条件下的高温和高压。洋一弘漱教授的方法之所以是划时代的,是其使得金刚石的合成过程能够在自然的大气条件下进行,所需要的只是一个燃烧器。这一方法的成功意味着金刚石合成的费用将大大降低,并能进行大规模的金刚石生
