朱熹十分重视宗法伦理,主张重建宗法社会,特地撰修了《家礼》等书,编辑了《增损吕氏乡约》,制定了一整套宗法伦理的繁礼缛节,大凡祠堂、族田、祭祀、家法、家礼等民间家族制度的结构形态的主要内容,都由朱熹具体提出过。其目的是将分散的民众整合起来,并把所有人都纳入血缘家族之中,从而加深了人们的血缘宗法伦理观念。朱熹重建宗法社会的种种主张,不仅使理学宗法伦理观念随之庶民化,理学很好地实现了向基层社会的有效渗透;而且使朱熹“以理治天下”的治国理念因此世俗化,在当时条件下对维护社会稳定起到了积极的作用。
