2001年6月10~12日,欧阳海水库库区普降大到暴雨,局部特大暴雨,3d 内流域平均总降雨量157.8mm,流域平均最大1d 降雨量95.7mm。由于降雨历时短、强度大,致使流域发生了100a 一遇的特大洪水,最大入库洪峰流量4600m~3/s,比1915年历史调查洪水的洪峰4060m~3/s 要大13%。由于洪水预报及时、准确,水库调度决策科学合理,防洪抢险措施得力有效,从而成功地调度好了这场历史上的最大洪水,保证了大坝安全度汛,使最高调洪库水位(坝前水位)仅为129.63m(比正常高水位低0.37m),最大下泄流量2840m~3/s,削减洪峰流量1760m~3/s,削峰38%,大大地减轻了下游沿河两岸的洪灾损失,充分发挥了水利工程在大洪水调度中的重要作用。
