这篇文章登载于英国‘自然’(Nature)周刊165卷4201期上(1950年5月6日)。赫胥黎(Julian Huxley)曾在‘自然’1949年6月18日和25％日两期上发表了以‘苏联的遗传学:争论焦点’为题的两篇文章,封米邱林学说的诬蔑不遗余力。苏联科学院遗传研究所努日金教授特撰专文予以痛驳。‘自然’周刊编者认为把原文整个翻译成英文,有的对资本主义国家出版的刊物看来,是无法发表的。该周刊编者把原文缩短了并寄回莫斯科求努日金教授的同意,於四月十三日得到下面的回信:“三月二十一日信敬悉。出於努日金教授在中国讲学,信件往还颇费时日,致函复较迟为歉。今日得努日金教授覆信,同意发表送来之校样,但对编者为不能登载原文深以为憾。努日金教授授权作覆,秘书拉维羅娃。”本文即为缩短後之文章。
