“皿”字属象形字,古代指碗、盆之类的食器,现泛指碗碟杯盘一类饮食用具。从甲骨文来看,“皿”字确实像食器,体形瘦高,书写上一任天然,尤其像古时饮酒的器具(图1);演变到篆书后,“皿”字渐趋规整,但仍未摆脱甲骨文的总体形式(图2);直到隶书,“皿”字的形态发生了质的变化,显得扁扁的,完全看不出它原来所追摹的食器
