According to the September 2013 issue of “Теплоэнергетика”, experts at the Moscow Institute of Dynamics and the Skov steam turbine plant in Karlo now analyze the characteristics of the rotor’s motion when the rotor contacts the stator and the running-in process of the rotor relative to the stator. The condition, the movement and the force characteristics of rotor running-in are studied. In the case of absolutely inelastic contact, a simple analytic solution is obtained for the absolutely rigid rotor and stator model, and the run-in phenomenon can be clearly understood. Based on this model, the failure characteristics of a 300 MW power turbine unit in a power station in the Castries region were illustrated. The rotor model is used to get a simple and intuitive solution to the running-in problem and to find out the influence of the main factors on the run-in parameters. Analysis shows that friction
