明光至蚌埠高速公路第八合同段为临淮关淮河特大桥蚌埠岸引桥部分。临淮关特大桥位于凤阳县板桥镇下徐村与五河县临北乡后坂村结合处,自东向西分别跨越花园湖行洪堤、淮河主河道、临北段行洪堤及淮北大堤。该桥的建设对蚌埠——南京高速公路主干线的贯通及沿线地区的经济发展具有极其重要的意义。合同段全长1725.5m,全线为双向四车道高速公路,桥面全宽28m。堤内、外引桥为等高度分段现浇预应力混凝土直腹板连续箱梁,高度2.6 m,顶宽13.5m,底宽7m,单幅桥面2%的横坡度通过箱梁的整体旋转来实现。跨堤引桥为挂篮悬浇的变高度箱梁。该合同段主要形象工程有:等高度滑移模架浇筑预应力直腹板箱梁70孔;挂篮悬浇箱梁6孔;水上钻孔灌注桩8根,陆地154根;钻孔灌注桩有D220共140根,D180共22根,桩长48m～59m;水上系梁4座,陆地系梁72座;承台4座;墩台柱154根,有5种结构形式;墙式护栏3451m,波形护栏3451m:厚度8cm桥面水泥混凝土铺装41328m~2。工程合同总价10657万元。工期为24个月,2003年1月开工,2005年1月竣工,由山东省路桥集团有限公司承建。
