星尘号探测器任务是美国航空航天局(NASA)喷气推进实验室的一项行星际探测任务,也是第1项收集彗星尘埃并将样品带回地球的采样返回任务,其主要目的是研究怀尔德-2彗星及其彗发的组成。该探测器于1999年2月7日发射,经过4.6×109km的飞行之后,返回舱于2006年1月15日在地球着陆。星尘号探测器在7年的航行期间,共环绕太阳飞行3次。飞向彗星的途中,星尘号的气溶胶收集器在2次绕太阳飞行期间收集了星际尘埃(2000年2-5月和2002年8-12月)。2004年1月2日,星尘号在距怀尔德-2彗星240km处飞过,收集了彗发的尘埃样品,并拍摄了冰彗核的详细照片。此外,星尘号还于2002年11月2日在距离小行星安妮法兰克(小行星5535)3300km处越过,并拍摄了照片。
The Stardust mission is an interplanetary exploration mission at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory and the first sample return mission to collect comet dust and bring the sample back to Earth, Composition of Comet-2 and its coma. The probe was launched on February 7, 1999 and the return capsule landed on the Earth on January 15, 2006 after a 4.6 x 109 km flight. Stardust number detector during the seven-year voyage, a total of three times around the sun. On their way to the comet, the star dust collector collected interstellar dust during the second round of solar flight (February-May 2000 and August-December 2002). On January 2, 2004, Stardust flew over 240km from Comet Wilder-2, collecting dust samples of coma and taking detailed photographs of ice nuclei. In addition, the stardust was also crossed over on 2 November 2002 at 3,300 km from Asteroid Annie Frank (asteroid 5535) and took a photo.
