Based on the Theil index, coefficient of variation and spatial autocorrelation in 83 counties of Gansu Province, with the support of Arcgis and Geoda software, this paper analyzes the economic density of urban mining land in counties in Gansu Province from 2001 to 2007 Differences in characteristics and spatial dynamic evolution pattern of a preliminary study. The results show that: 1) The economic density of industrial and mining land in cities and counties in Gansu Province is on the rise, but the differences among counties and districts are obvious; 2) the relative speed of land economic density in each county is different with the economic development; 3) The overall difference of land economic density in Gansu Province showed a fluctuating upward trend, while the differences among 14 cities and counties were gradually narrowing. The internal differences of land economic density in some counties under the jurisdiction of cities and prefectures showed an upward trend. The differences in economic density of land in Gansu Province Of the total area was caused by the differences in some counties and districts; 4) the concentration of economic density of industrial and mining land in cities and towns in Gansu Province was weak, and there was a tendency of agglomeration in the areas of Tianshui, Lanzhou and Qingyang. The intensive and economical use of land and the reasonable control of the scale of construction land are the inevitable requirements for building a conservation-oriented society. The economic density of industrial and mining land in cities and towns can be used as an effective basis for arranging the construction land for industrial and mining works in cities and counties in the overall land use planning.
