一宁夏稻区包括引黄灌区的九个县(郊区),分布在北纬37°30′～39°30′,东经105°～106°40′之间。海拔1070～1234米。水稻生育期间(4月21日至9月20日)≥10℃积温低温年份2887℃,高温年份3051℃,而且昼夜温差大。水稻抽穗前每天日照时数都在14小时左右,日照百分率约为55～80%。年平均降水量为190～230毫米,蒸发量为1129毫米,相对湿度为55%,7～9月份雨季相对湿度为60～70%。终霜期约在4月下旬至5月上旬,初霜期约在9月下旬至10月上旬,全年无霜期150天左右。稻田土壤以浅色草甸土、灌淤土为主。土壤呈碱性反应,pH7.2～8.5,全盐量约0.1～0.3%,以硫酸盐和氯化物为主。全区干旱少雨,蒸发强烈,依靠引黄灌溉,乃大西北一个历史悠久的古老稻作区。
