A team from New York City University found a noninvasive method for detecting breast cancer using DNA and protein fingerprinting in the Kubelka-Munk spectral function (KMSF). The Kubelka-Munk theory is a two-flux theory, which assumes that radiation consists of two bundles of oppositely directed radiation flowing in a continuous medium. This theory is widely used to relate the total diffuseness of a material to its scattering and absorption
