The benzene ring introduces a strong electron-withdrawing group, diethylamino, and therefore has a high sensitivity to the color reaction with transition elements. Nickel forms a 1: 2 colored complex with 5-Br-PADAP at a wavelength of 570 nm, The molar extinction coefficient is 1.17 × 10 ~ 5 L · mol -1 · cm -1, which is about 1 time higher than that of PAR method and about 7 ~ 8 times higher than that of the conventional dimethylglyoxime method.
