用幼虫人工饲料(啤洒酵母25克,蜂蜜10克,蔗糖10克,鱼子粉20克,抗坏血酸0.1克,水150毫升)和成虫人工饲料(啤酒酵母25克,蜂蜜15克,蔗糖15克,干鱼子粉15克,水150毫升)连续饲养中华草蛉10代,叶色草蛉7代,各代都以饲养蚜虫者为对照。试验结果表明人工饲料饲养这两种草蛉各代的平均发育历期,幼虫孵化率、成活率、结茧率、化蛹率及成虫羽化率、雌雄比、产卵期等都与饲以蚜虫的基本相似。成虫都能正常交配,并产下大量的卵。如中华草蛉各代平均单雌产卵量为780粒,多的个体为1283粒。叶色草蛉单雌产卵量有的达844粒,但各代平均单雌产卵量为427.9粒,比饲以蚜虫的少218.5粒,且自第三代起,蛹重也有明显的减轻。
