Must这个词我们非常熟悉,它最常见的用法是用作情态动词。但是,在学习过程中我们有时会遇到这样的句子: I needn’t tell you that good health is a must for builders of socialism.(用不着我告诉你们,健康的身体对于社会主义的建设者是绝对必要的。)例中的“must”就变成了能单独使用的名词。(注意must前的不定冠词a)
The word “must” is very familiar to us. Its most common usage is as a modal verb. However, we sometimes encounter such sentences in the learning process: I needn’t tell you that good health is a must for builders of socialism. (There is no need for me to tell you that a healthy body is absolutely necessary for builders of socialism. Necessary.) The “must” in the example becomes a noun that can be used alone. (note the indefinite article before must)a)
