Plastic coated optical fibers are composed of an inner core of high purity synthetic quartz and an outer plastic coating having a refractive index lower than the core. The total transmission loss of its quartz core is less than 3 dB / km, but the properties of the coating resin have a significant effect on the properties of the fiber when the quartz core is coated with resin. The resin used as the fiber coating should have the following properties: (1) the refractive index is lower than the refractive index of the silica core; (2) the light transmittance is relatively high; (3) the higher adhesion to quartz;
