敦煌艺术早已名扬中外,而敦煌武术却鲜为人知。近年来,武术工作者开始了对敦煌武术的发掘、研究工作。易绍武、李重申先后撰写了有关论文,初步确定了敦煌武术的存在;甘肃省武术馆王德功组织人力进行了系统的实地考察、人物专访、资料研究等工作,并根据敦煌莫高窟壁画中的人物造型,有关武术动作的绘画和流行于西北地区的通备拳系和地方拳种的风格、特点,在首届中国丝路节之际成功地创编了敦煌武术 Dunhuang art has long been famous at home and abroad, but Dunhuang Wushu is little known.
