Objective To investigate the role and significance of aberrant expression of PTEN and NDRG1 in the pathogenesis, invasion and metastasis of endometrial carcinoma. Methods Immunohistochemistry was used to detect the expression of PTEN and NDRG1 in 124 cases of type Ⅰ endometrial carcinoma, 28 cases of atypical hyperplasia of the endometrium and 35 cases of normal endometrium, and the clinicopathological factors were analyzed. Results The positive rates of PTEN and NDRG1 in endometrial carcinoma were 29.18% and 52.14%, respectively, which were significantly different from those in normal endometrium and atypical hyperplasia (P <0.05). The down-regulation of PTEN expression or NDRG1 overexpression correlated with tumor differentiation (P <0.05). Conclusions The lack of expression of PTEN or the high expression of NDRG1 protein play an important role in the occurrence, invasion and metastasis of endometrial carcinoma. Therefore, the expression of PTEN and NDRG1 in clinic is detected, and the degree of malignancy and prognosis of endometrial carcinoma Significance.
