An Optical Machining Conference was held in Boulder, Colorado in 1974, introducing the recent advances in mechanical processing optics in technology, materials, metrology, finishing and applications. Two main processing techniques are discussed, one of which is a single point diamond grinding and the other a precision grinding and polishing technique. This article introduces some of the history of machining developments, critical critical machining variables, material and geometrical possibilities, and several new results on the optical evaluation of machined surfaces. Simply discuss the future of machining research and development ideas. Optical diamond grinding is the use of diamond tools to create polished optical components on precision machine tools under very tight mechanical and external conditions. This technique is also known as micromachining and precision surface production. Diamond grinding is not a new technique. As made
