In the first half of the twentieth century, Christianity was introduced into the Miao areas of Yunnan, Guizhou and Guizhou provinces in the southwestern region of China, causing a massive mass conversion movement. As Christianity is known to have the doctrinal tradition of “the Bible alone,” the spread of Christianity is always centered on the translation and transmission of the Bible. Before the introduction of Christianity into the Hmong area, the Miao people did not yet have a writing system in their own language. Therefore, before moving on to translate the Hmong language, missionaries must first learn their national language and establish a writing system for the national language. This article has made a clear-cut of the history of translation and transmission of the Bible in the language of Miao language, and has given a deep investigation of its social and cultural impact from the perspective of religious studies.
