Phagocytic cells play an important role in traumatic myositis, but little is known about the role of phagocytes, especially monocytes, in prolonged intensive exercise. It is generally believed that strenuous exercise increases the phagocytic activity of neutrophils and decreases the oxidative activity. This article aims to investigate the effect of carbohydrate supplementation on granulocytes and monocytes after exercise. Subjects and Methods 30 marathon runners with at least two marathons (VO 2max of 53.4 ± 1.0 ml / kg / min and mean age of 41.5 ± 1.4 years) who had at least 4 years of sports experience. Athletes were randomly divided into supplemented carbohydrate group 17 cases, control group 13 cases.
