墨西哥科学家近日宣布,他们成功地利用萝卜酶处理工业废水,有效地保护了生态环境。这项科研项目的负责人布兰卡·埃斯特拉表示,化工、纺织和啤酒等工业每天排放大量含有酚混合物的污水,这种废水对周围的土壤、水源和耕地都造成十分严重的污染,目前只能通过成本很高的化学方法处理这些工业废水。这位曾在去年年底荣获墨西哥“全国食品科技奖”的学者回顾说,她和同事们经过4年的潜心研究,终于从萝卜中提炼出这种能清除工业废水中酚混合物的酶。经过这种萝卜酶处理的工业废水可以循环再利用,既降低了生产成本又达到了保护环境的目的。这一科研成果不久将在墨全国推广应用。
