I understand that the propaganda art of Comrade Guanyuan is by no means a purely a journalistic writing skill or program production technique Nor is readability, visibility or audibility in the general sense mainly refers to the grasping, controlling and adjusting of various complicated contradictions through news means in the new situation so that the guidance and regulation of public opinion can receive the best effect. In the final analysis, it is to make news propaganda more effective in serving the center of economic construction so that the Party’s basic line can be carried out more smoothly so that Comrade Xiaoping understands and masters the theory of building socialism with Chinese characteristics for millions of people Truly achieve the purpose of “unity, stability and encouragement.” To strengthen the guidance of public opinion, why must we improve the publicity art? I think there are at least three reasons: First, people have high requirements for publicity work. Today, due to the economic structure, there has been a great change in the pattern of interests. People’s way of thinking, behavior and mental state have also changed. The traditional set of propaganda methods in the past have become increasingly unsuited to this situation. Our party’s propaganda work has many fine traditions and rich experience. However, it is undeniable that past propaganda efforts were mainly aimed at politics
